I arrived on a retirement non-O visa and stamped with an expiry of Dec 3. It took time to get a lease and bank account opened. I am transferring the required 800k in 2 parts and the transfers are taking a very long time to show up in the thai bank. It looks like the full amount will not be in the account until maybe Sept 27 or so.

What am I up against with the fact that it will be almost the 1st of December before the balance has been in place for 2 full months. Do I need to wait until then before or is it possible to go in a week or so early, even though the balance may have only been in place for 55 days, etc?

Hi all..Really appreciate any advice on the following - I am 60, retired, financially well Canadian. Applied for the O-non imgrant retirement visa from Canada and after submitting all of the docs and paid so much fees (incl 2 health insurance) didn't get too far. The Embasy asked for more docs based on their forms which I didn't see or know when I went though the on-line application. Now I am in Europe and plan to fly to Thailand Oct 1. I understand the visa 2 + 1 months, but wish to stay longer. What would be the best way to achieve this while within Thailand? I am keeping all of the health coverage, criminal checks, etc. Would love to here from westerners who are gone through this and got any long-term stay visas. Thanks all.

Hello,

I have a few questions regarding the bank statement to prove the 500k THB, although I scrolled the group posts by searching, I couldn't find something similar to my situation (apologized if my questions were actually already answered):

1. I'm a French citizen, with Permanent Residency in Taiwan. I have worked in Taiwan for 6 years, so I can show my salary slip until June 2024.

2. I recently started a new job. It's a consultant contract, with a Singaporean company, starting from July 2024 to December 2024. Same here I can show my contract and my invoices for July+August payment.

3. The thing is, I made few big operations with my Taiwanese bank account so currently my Taiwanese account doesn't have 500k THB.

4. However, in France we have a family shared account, (I have the power of attorney for this account but it's not under my name, my parents'), where we do have more than 500k THB.

Questions:

1. Would you advise to transfer money from the family account to my own personal account? Or a statement proving that I have the power of attorney would be enough?

2. If I do need to transfer on an account under my name: Is transferring to my French bank account would do, or is it better to transfer directly to my Taiwanese account, which I used daily for the past 6 years (I received all my salary on this account)?

3. I understand that each embassy/office have different rules regarding the period we have those 500k THB in the account.

Let's say I do the necessary transfers next week, would you recommend Taipei or Vientiane? I have family in both cities so its convenient for me to stay there few days, hence those two options..

Thank you in advance for your answers!

I have heard different things regarding this..much obliged if anyone knows the answer: Does one must have a visa OUTSIDE of Thailand (tourist visa for example, to GET another Visa while IN Thailand( O-Visa for example) OR can I simply come into Thailand with the now 60 day Visa Exemption stamp(and possible 30 day extension) and THEN apply for a Visa while IN Thailand(before my visa exemption time limit expires)? I ask this because I've read that one NEEDS a Visa to change to another Visa in the Kingdom of Thailand. ALSO have read that one can come to TH on a visa exemption and then get a Visa in Thailand. (Which would be easier and simpler). Would anyone specifically know? Thanks in advance, Mike D.

Hello everyone. I just arrived on a 60 day visa. My girlfriend and I are expecting a daughter in December. After which, we will file the paperwork for my parental rights. My question involves my visa. Right now my understanding is that I will file an extension that will take me to the end of November. After that I plan on doing border runs until my family member visa and parental rights paperwork can get done. Is this the best way to go about things? Thank you for any advice!
