At the end of last year, 2025, I applied for a DTV visa at the Thai Embassy in Tokyo and was successfully approved.

Since I managed to obtain a DTV visa at the Thai Embassy in Tokyo—said to be one of the most difficult places in the world to get one—I'm sharing my experience. I hope it helps someone.

Overview

・Japanese national residing in Tokyo

・Applied as a freelance IT engineer

・Online application → Interview → Approval (took about 2-3 weeks)

Documents Submitted

・Documents required during the various online application stages

・Bank statements for the last 3 months

・Contract for services

→ I obtained these in Japanese and used AI to translate them into English. They were accepted without issue.

Hi, has anyone received a TR visa in Tokyo recently.? I've read some old posts that say you need Japanese resident card. There was a link to the Thai embassy, Tokyo, but it has expired. The current website states only certain countries need the resident card, or it seems ambiguous.

Any current successful attempts by non-japanese residents.?
