DTV Approved in Fukuoka, Japan 🇯🇵
9/9 - Submitted online application for workcation (freelance)
* Passport Page
* Visa Photo (I used the same as my passport as my passport is brand new)
* Page screenshots from my professional website and digital portfolio showing my work (I'm a creative)
* Contract with one client + screenshot of an email where I had an agreement with another client
* Official bank statement from the bank showing my current balance + digital banking screenshot to show 3 months worth
* Payslips from clients as well as corresponding deposits highlighted from my bank statement just to show that I'm actually getting paid (different bank so different screenshot to above)
9/10 - Additional documents requested (flight ticket proof & accommodation in Bangkok)
* I am staying with my mother who is a Japanese national with a work permit in Thailand for the past 20 years
* I submitted a copy of her rental agreement with the landlord that covers the duration of my stay, her passport copy and her Thai work permit copy just in case
9/11 - Approved!
I was quite worried I wouldn't get it after reading so many posts about rejections + people getting a METV instead but I didn't think I would get it this fast🥹 For reference, I'm a Japanese national living in Tokyo. I chose the Fukuoka consulate as I read that the Tokyo consulate is one of the most difficult consulates.
*Edit: Added more details in case it helps any future applicants. *
Is it possible to start the DTV application at the embassy before getting the DTV letter from the Muay Thai School?
[Edit: I had a confusion about the gyms recommendation letter and the recommendation letter of the board of boxing.
I did pay the school already, but they said I have to wait 3-4 weeks for the DTV letter. Now I understand that the school refers to the letter of the board of boxing, while most other applicants get a letter from the gym itself, which might be sufficient for an application]
My thinking: the embassy anyways will request additional documents. The Muay Thai School in Bangkok told me it will take up to 1 month for the ministry of sports to emit the DTV letter. So why not already start the process to sort out all other unexpected requirements? 🤔
I'm not sure if they will accept my application anyways, since I already stayed roughly 6 months in thailand on visa exemptions & extensions. Plus I have no proof of income, but I transfer money every month to my own travel account (wise), which I hope can sirve as "income".
Or is applying early a silly idea?
Oh, and is it normal that the school or ministry of sports send the DTV letter directly to the embassy?
Does anyone has problem to increase daily limit with TTB Touch? The feature was frozen for almost 3 months. Since 09th September the app can access it but when I want to click save, it sends th message that I need to visit the branch. I just did that, the branch staff called the call centre to tell me that due to a technical problem, this feature can only be available from 16th September onwards.
Why sending people to the branch then?? I'm beginning to think that we're not customers but a burden to those banks. Unbelievable.
Another banking & immigration related question. Sorry if it has been asked before.
I want to change my 800K 'immigration deposit' from Bangkok Bank to another bank.
I have most of my other monies tied up in CD's in the States ---- so I would need to use the money in the Bangkok Bank account to satisfy the banking requirement in regards to my upcoming renewal of my one year extension Non-O 'retirement' visa.
As of today I have 59 days left until my one year extension expires.
Do I need to go to Immigration and do some particular paperwork to get this bank change properly pushed through in regards to my visa requirements, or can I simply do a direct transfer in one day between the two banks and have all the banking papers in-hand from both banks when I do apply for renewal?
To cover myself, I would go to Bangkok Bank and get my bank book updated prior to doing the transfer. Plus I would leave enough funds in the account to keep it open and active after the transfer.
I have my transfer limit on my BB app set to two million baht a day so I should not have an issue making the transfer itself.
One question that particularly bothers me is perhaps the one day date change that may show up between the bank books/statements during the transfer. Think that may be an issue if it happens that way? I know Immigration can be a real stickler about some things.
Heck, a transfer may even take more than one day to take effect ya think? Of course I will check in with both banks regarding that question but I am just trying to get something of an idea as to what to expect and watch for.
Any advice or knowledge would be most appreciated! Thanks!
Hello. I am enquiring if applying for a retirement visa I need to have documents translated. I am been told this in Hua Sai. Which is 64km south of Nakhon siThammarat. Also the Krungtai bank told me they can only open accounts for people with jobs. All appears strange to me.
Any advice appreciated

Hi everyone,
Applying for soft power DTV from Indonesia.
- Sep 2: submitted all documents
- Sep 11: got requested to add proof of current location and sent a hotel booking (until Sept 11) and selfie with receipt (taken Sept 11) on the same day
In hindsight, I believe it would have been better to show another hotel booking for the next fews days. Was wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to add additional documents after already submitting via the online portal.
Thank you,
Why are people applying for the DTV in other countries vs thier home country?
I have my DTV. Do I still need to apply for the online Thai Visa Arrival Card? Yikes, $79!
Hi guys, doing a dtv reset run at Friendship Bridge 4.
