TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on entry rules after visiting Thailand multiple times in 2025, wondering if they can stay for an additional 40 days in February 2026. The discussion reveals varying experiences with immigration, including advice on necessary documentation like return tickets, hotel bookings, and foreign cash. Key points include the potential implications of new visa regulations that could affect re-entry, notably the limits on visa-free entries per calendar year, and the importance of proper visa status and documentation when entering Thailand.

Hi Guys

Please I have also some questions

I hold DTV ( Remote worker) and the first time I entered Thailand with the visa (DTV ) was last year November 2025 and I only stayed for 12 days then I exited since now 1 year .

1. Do I encounter any problems or formality which I suppose to do and I didn’t do ??

2. — Now I’m planning to go back to Thailand in mid 2026 probably in July 2026 and I’m wondering/afraid if I can get admitted smoothly with another 180 days stamp or how things will go with the immigration.

— Do I need to do any papers preparation or documents to present again at the immigration officer in Bangkok ??

3. Or it will be considered as normal use of DTV as first entrance since I have been given 180 days and I only stayed for 12 days and exited then to comeback after 1 year
***
and again to get 180 days ???

I will be so grateful for any clarification and or advice you can provide.

Thank you

I just went through imagration I was in thailand from January till June 2025 went home

Returned nov 17 imagration lady sent me to the little man in charge

He then took me to the big boss he was a nice fella said something about Canada and stamped me through on the way out the little fella said to get a visa next to big problem without visa I thought no it won't be because im taking my money to Vietnam after I close my frozen Bangkok bank

I don't think you will have a problem but they may tell you to get a proper visa next trip

Your history is quite typical, you shouldn't have any problems but then again nobody knows, have the three proofs ready, an onward ticket, booked accommodation, 20k baht.

There is no limit to entry so if the visits are not consecutive and you have exit flight then you should be fine. In typical Thai fashion it’s not black and white.

You'll be OK. You get 60 days for one entry visa exempt

Visa exempt is limited to 2 times per calalendar year so in 2026 the limit resets - latest information out that ive seen. You can always apply for a 90 day visa and come in

it doesn't "reset". . . .while the new approach is still young, they still count per "rolling year" . . .the calendar year summation will probably start much later . . . . . . . it means, he did 3 entries within a one-year period, he didn't maximize each visa-exempt entry, however he said he already spent a total of 100 days. . I guess he has a fair chance of being admitted, but he might get warned that this is the last time for the next few months . . . . I cannot foresee the reaction of the Immigration officer he will stand in front of. 100 days plus another 60 days will amount to three days over the 157-days that was declared to be a limit for visa-exempt entries plus extensions during a calendar year . . . . . .he might get lucky but Anthony James needs to have the three proofs ready: onward travel proof out of Thailand within 60 days, a few nights booked accommodation, and 20,000 Thai Baht or equivalent in another currency in cash

are you able to share a link that shows this is true. I understood its visa extensions that are limited to 2 a year. I have a DTV but its relevant for family who visit me often

Your family visiting you and returning home is fine. It is visits to nearby countries to remain staying in Thailand which is the focus.

should be fine for them - these changes deals with people using the max time extend - leave a couple days come back - the passport book will reflect it. If you have family from your home country who only stay a few weeks at a time - they should be ok

it doesn't "reset". . . .while the new approach is still young, they also count per "rolling year" . . .the calendar year summation will start much later into the new calendar year. You could not have read this nowhere on an official site, as it hasn't been definmitely published at all how they count. Actually, the count is "up to the officer" and you have agreed on this already

yes according to immigration visa lawyer the restriction they placed on ot resets after the calendar year ends. Its not a 12 month period as per a lawyer - what the IO does at check in is a different story - when an IO goes against the establisjed regulations you do have avenue of approach at customs - having an immigration lawyer on retainer is advisable for such situations

I don't care what your lawyer said . . . I am talking about the new approach of Immigration towards border runners - AND repeated visa-exempt entries. And if they ever start to count, they will not only count calendar year, they will also look at your stays during the last 365-days period . . it is not either or, it is both . . NOTHING "resets", this is lawyer BS

as with many immigration rules, they are guidelines and often only internal documents… the law that allows them to handle it like this is the „up to the officer“ paragraph

I'm presuming that you are talking about Visa Free entry as DTV isn't mentioned.

Sometimes Calendar year gets followed and in other cases trailing 12 months so there is no clear line drawn basis which entry can be assured.

Ensure you have the following if you do decide to go:

1. Return ticket confirmed

2. Hotel booking/s for all the days

3. TDAC

4. 10-20K THB and other forex

Be ready with FAQs.
