Most embassys don't require you to show money for a non-immigrant O visa, based on marriage to a Thai national.

However, if you want to apply inside Thailand, and for subsequent extensions of stay,

you need a Thai bank account in YOUR name showing at least ฿400 000 OR a monthly income in your name of at least ฿40 000.

You can not use a combination of income and banked money for this type of visa/extension.

It kicks in if he has been in Thailand based on retirement consecutively since October 21 1998
