no the DTV is not a long-stay visa. I think you’re confusing the validity of the visa (5-yrs) with how long you can stay in country (180 days).

The Non O-A is a year long Visa - you can stay in the country 1-yr and extend for 1-year without leaving Thailand.

The Non O-X is a 5 year Visa you can stay in the country 5-yrs and extend for 5-years without leaving Thailand. (total 10 years)

The LTR is a Ten Year multiple entry Visa. You can stay in country for 10 years without exiting if you chose to.

DTV is not a long term Visa.

You can only open a bank account on a long term Visa. Banks are closing accounts that are not register to long term Visa and Thai cellphone SIMs.

Don’t waste your money with an agent to circumvent the banks.

You can use a service like TAGTHAI

using Wise will cost close to $500 to send $100K.

A direct international SWIFT wire from bank to bank will cost $25.

Encrypted Networks: Banks use secure systems like SWIFT to send wire instructions, ensuring messages are encrypted and authenticated.

Audit Trails: Every step of a wire transfer is recorded, making the transaction traceable.

for large amounts, anything over $5000, this will be very costly in fees. A wire transfer from bank to bank is the most cost efficient. It will be a flat fee amount. My bank charges $25 for an international transfer no matter how much.

SWIFT wire transfer from bank to bank is the absolute safest for large amounts.

from beginning to end it was about a 45 day process. Once you get your BOI endorsement letter the Thai Embassy will process and send out your e-visa via email within 3-5 business days. Word of advice make sure you proof read your application to ensure everything is exactly as on your passport. I’ve heard that some fail to populate the application correctly and their visa was denied and they lost their fees and had to resubmit.

Congrats! I got my LTR while still in the U.S. and entered with the eVisa. My one year reporting is next month.
