Dany Nomads search his name in this group chat. He successfully extended DTV visa. By his reports it was a fair bit of work. In my opinion if I’m gonna spend a whole day collecting documents, and perhaps a 2nd or 3rd meeting with immigration, it’s far faster and more chill to just take a 2 day weekend anywhere else…. Just use google flights explore mode so see which international destinations are a single flight from your airport and select accordingly. I’ve had no issues with multiple border runs 😁

my favorites are the ones that scream to young men about how “you need to pay taxes,” then go silent when the young man respectfully asks how to pay Thai taxes. Keyboard warriors go silent lol

Roger Groves not an expert but my guess would be he should book an early morning or late night flight where there are less passengers, and show up as early as possible to be the first person to check in and hurry to immigration so he can sit through paperwork and still catch the flight.

Ie when the boss asks something, they might have to handle it asap.

yeah I get what you mean. In western culture our tone would be seen as less threatening. However I speak Thai fluently and translating that question directly to Thai sounds very bad. To be honest, I don’t even know how you could ask the authority if everything is alright without it sounding suspicious or not good. In Thai culture it is more about respect to authority.

I can’t help but wonder if something popped up that she had to deal with that wasn’t related at all to you but you were left just standing there.

Honestly… The problem was you asking what the problem is after getting stamped. You were stamped in. Maybe she had some unrelated nonsense come up. Or just had to go through something. I get this really sucks and is a strange experience but asking “what is the problem” is a very bad question to ask a Thai official. Translated to Thai, it’s very direct and confrontational.

I forgot to do my tdac once and it’s not a problem. You can do it in the airport when you arrive. There was a separate line for it

it’s about 4-5 hours one way I think. Depending on traffic. So definitely a full day thing. Still, might be alright if you can just sit on your laptop in a van or watch a movie.

Personally I’ve been flying out. Vietnam earlier this year. Hong Kong a couple weeks ago. Fast and convenient, minus we’ll get a little short trip out of it.

Yes of course. It’s not hard or complicated. Just look up the nearest DLT and go in and ask what you need. If you can’t find it ask any Thai person.

In my case I had an American car and motorcycle license so it was easy to convert to Thai license. If you don’t have a local license you can do the test n all that or take a training course which guarantees the license at the end.

It’s highly recommendable.

If he hasn’t been in Thailand for years prior to this he’s probably fine but playing with fire. Be prepared to answer questions. Consider applying for even a basic tourist visa 60 days for more security.
