basically the main difference is the OA is applied for in your own country and health insurance is required, now it is 3 million baht worth of coverage. The O visa can be applied for either in your own country or in Thailand, and does not require health insurance.

You cannot convert to a OA visa in Thailand, they are only available from outside of Thailand. But you can apply for a O visa from inside of Thailand.

If you are from Australia, go to the embassy, but prepare for around a 3 month wait.

we shipped a whole container here from Australia using OSS they were great. Only 4 weeks door to door, nothing broken, nothing missing. No import duties were paid, but we put it my wife’s name, so as a a Thai National returning home, you pay no duty, just put used personal effects on the manifest, and only cost just over 6,000 AUD with insurance.

Wonder how this LTR will play out, especially with the reporting side. How can the BOI circumvent the immigration act section 37 which clearly states Aliens must report to immigration every 90 days. Considering the BOI have no jurisdiction over visas, it is a good trick to offer yearly reporting. Very interesting indeed.

You will need a certificate of residency from your local immigration, and a doctors certificate as well.
