I need to go to Tachilek from Mae Sai (Not for border run, but for business.) I am not vaccinated for CoVid. I have a 1 year visa in Thailand. My question is: will I need a reentry permit to cross over for a few hours? If so, can I get that in Mae Sai? Do I need a covid test? Does anyone know the actual requirements for entry and return?

Today the Thai-Myanmar border crossing of Mae Sai reopened. It appears to be the first "proper" land border reopening that should allow foreigners and Thais to pass, without being restricted to the border town or a border run (for certain foreign nationalities). However, it is noted that Covid restrictions apply on the Myanmar side and will apply for at least one month before they are re-evaluated. Everyone, Thais and foreigners will need either proof of vaccination or a Covid rapid antigen test done within 48 hours and this proof must be printed out. No electronic copies accepted. Another rapid antigen test will be performed on arrival in Tachilek at a cost of 15000 Myanmar Kyat. Only one day pass holders are exempted from the on arrival test. It is not known whether foreigners, who request a one day pass will be exempted or if this only applies to Thais holding border passes.

The link is only in Thai. I'm sure English language media will soon have their own versions, but they're usually delayed by a day or two.

*edit* Will we have time to get to chaing Mai tomorrow, find a hostel/hotel to dump bags and get a border bounce done either tomorrow or Tuesday? Or better to get straight to Chaing Rai? And am I right we have until Tuesday at midnight if we entered Aug 27th?***

Time flies! We entered Thailand on Visa exemption Aug 27th. There are 6 of us on US passports. We are in Bangkok with plans to move to Chaing Mai for a few months. I apologize if this has been answered repeatedly, but for some reason I get so overwhelmed trying to research our options. We wanted to do our two border runs for the year and ideally see a bit of another country in the process. We have ran into a bank issue though and money is MUCH tighter than anticipated, so looking for the cheapest/easiest way to get this done. Not sure if the 30 day extension here in Bangkok is best, get to Chaing Mai if we can tomorrow and do it there or go to Laos or ??? If we leave the country at this point is another 30 day exemption best or getting a 60 day Visa? Anything else I dont even know to ask? Sorry, I'm stressing here. šŸ¤ŖšŸ¤ŖšŸ¤Ŗ

Just did my first land border bounce with ease at Maesai to Tachilek Myanmar. Just to update that I don't have to paid 500 bhat or 10usd at Myanmar immigration but they only issue me a single day entry. Question..is there a limit to how many land border bounce can I do as a Non O multiple entry for 1 year?

Been to Maesai<>Tachilek today for another 90-day stamp on my non-B. This time they took pictures of my passport and Visa, as well the arrival card and they asked me to repeat my address from the top of my head. Then got stamped in without any further hassle.

Dunno for what reason this all was. But I think there's something brewing again for sure. Just to let all you people know.
