If you are back home in Canada and meet the requirements then get a METV. It can effectively give you 9 months on the single visa with no hassles.

1 entry - 60 days then border bounce.

2nd entry - 60 days then border bounce.

3rd entry 59 days then border bounce.

60 more days + 30-day extension.

9 months all in.

b1000 and a passport photo at your local immigration office.

b1200 and no photo needed at the airport.

The report still needs to be done but Visa Elite does it for you.

At home we buy a food processor. In Thailand they are called a maid.

It is like the difference between playing 9 holes at the municipal golf course or your membership at the country club.

They are both just a round of golf but there is a lot more convenience at the country club for your money.

Do you prefer top deck or economy class on the plane? They both get you to the same place.

Money well spent? It is a matter of personal preference.

Some people like the top deck.

For those who are interested in the Elite Visa the time is more of a factor than the price. If $15k is nothing to you then the convenience of the fast track at the airport, no 90-day reports, no need for border bouncing or annual visa extensions, no muss, no fuss, no hassle... is worth it.

.

It is not about being able to do it cheaper. It is about the convenience.

If you have the US$15k to spend on a visa then it is a good deal.

No hassles, no muss, no fuss, priority in and out privileges and VIP treatment at the airports and immigration.

.

If the thought of spending US$15k just on a visa is a bit much then welcome to the real world where people fly economy class and don't live in 5* hotels.

You effectively have 2 options:

1) have an actual visa (SETV, METV) - the airlines won't bother you about exit tickets.

2) have an exit ticket to meet the requirements for no-visa entry. The airlines will be the problem at check-in time because they are responsible for your repatriation costs if there is a problem at entry.

Get a cheap, disposable ticket to anywhere outside of Thailand. This will satisfy the airline and immigration requirement even if you never plan to use it.

There are lots of options and the flight does not have to be from CNX.

Look for cheap flights on the low cost carriers from DMK to anywhere close: KUL, SIN, MNL, HKG, etc.

.

If the baby is under 2 she won't need an exit ticket.

Everyone else will.

.

IF you can show that you will travel overland by bus to an adjoining country a bus or train itinerary / tickets will also suffice (ie: BKK to Malaysia) but may cost more than a cheap air ticket.

.

Depending on the carrier you may also be able to say that you will travel overland and be allowed to sign a waiver absolving the airline of the costs (you bear the responsibility and costs) if there is a problem at entry.

There is also a 3 week window of opportunity to do the 90-day report (2 weeks prior to 1 week after).

Also, the reports do not need to be done in person. A significant other can take the forms and passports in to do the report.

To work in any school (formal, informal or non-formal) that is authorized under the education act or private school act you NEED a degree to get the letter of authorization that is needed to get the non-B visa. The visa is needed to get the work permit.

.

There are a few private language centers who can legally hire TEFL teachers who do not have a degree but they are few and far between.

They need to have enough Thai staff to be allowed to hire a foreigner and few enough students or small enough classes to be exempt from the rules (informal school).
