TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquired about the process of obtaining a re-entry permit while holding a retirement visa in Thailand when planning to visit family in England. It was clarified that a re-entry permit can be acquired at both international airports in Bangkok, which operate 24/7, as well as at an immigration office. Additionally, information about the validity of the re-entry permits was provided, indicating that they are valid until the expiration date of the current 'permission to stay' stamp.

Okay there's some BAD information on here. :O

A re-entry permit is always issued for the duration of your current 'admitted until' or 'permission to stay' stamp is valid for. That means if you get a re-entry permit right after you get your yearly extension it's good for a year.

It doesn't matter if it's a multiple or a single re-entry permit. In fact it doesn't matter when you buy a re-entry permit they are ALWAYS good until your current stamp's expiration date.

, just allow yourself some extra time when you go to the airport so you can get the re-entry permit. It usually takes about 10-20 minutes.

Unfortunately

I buy it always too just in case. I almost bought a single entry this year because my only solid travel is in 7 months. Didn’t realized a single entry had a 6 month shelf life like Dave Blackwell mentioned.
