again not true l opened 3 banks accounts all on tourist visa. Cost nothing except my time and talking with p
Bank officer explaining why l needed the account and having correct paperwork at the time. You are talking about Bangkok not sure but what l read here it's difficult there remember bkk had so many customers so maybe they don't want your business. Thai banks are not like banks back home they are like franchises individually run. Pattaya Phuket are also difficult they rely on agents so the scam.mine are big from provinces that l have lived in and never had an issue
you have a visa you don't have to answer. They are just being annoying because so many foreigners are using it now and it pisses then off. It's a control thing for some officers
it's Thailand where is it that simple. Thai who are not good with English will always try to "shoooo you away" that's just how the culture is. Of course there are the exceptions. Hence my explanation in the post ask for the manager. Its easy to walk away and critise or complain but many westerners have opened accounts now and it is up to us to lead the way. Stop being negative there are lots of westerners on board get on or get off
it depends on how the applicant is approaching the bank. You can just go in with a visa and ask to open an account. It will be a no. You need more documents than that. It's like applying for a long term visa and just showing you passport. The answer is no. Be educated about what you are applying for and talk more than 2 words to staff if they are unsure ask for the manager usually they speak English. Explain your situation DTV they have probably never heard of. You are living here and require an account to transfer money from your country and pay bills here. It's not that hard if you adjust your attitude. You are not walking into a bank in your country make adjustments for that and be patient
I did the sums when covid was in full flight. People were leaving in their droves and trying to sell their condos so thought good time to get in. But it's a nightmare there are yearly fees attached also unstable rental market. Resale is also not high return so decided to keep my money at home and rent. Renting is less headaches and you can move where you want, try other areas Thailand is so diverse. You can check it out yourself and do the maths it suits some as westerners traditionally buy in their country but renting works here.
