I think you also need to make sure your stamp is issued in the province you live. I know someone that was questioned about there stamp as it was in a province he had never lived in.

yes , its a tourist visa and you need to apply in your own country or out of Thailand. That will get you 60 days and you can extend that 30 days.

There's a 200baht bus from bluepoint shopping mall in hau hin to Bangkok 4 hours and comfortable. It will drop you by the sky train, which you can take to bang Sue train station for your onward train journey.
