People overstay visas all the time. Unless its willful , u will not go to detention. And no one from immi will go to ur hospital bed to arrest u.... U have the proof with ur hospital bill and ask for a doctor note explaining ur serious illness. That's all u need to show immi as a reason for ur overstay....

That's enough for urself in BKK but if u need a live-in partner and contribute to her family support, then u would need like an extra usd 1k.. I didn't live in BKK but I lived n worked in Manila with similar CoL standards....To be comfortable like a middle class local with a live-in, whom u would need to support 40k bhat a month if u wanted one, in a moderate metro apart, u need about USD 3K a month and still have some savings.... It all depends on if u want a live-in or not, whether u wanna live local middle class standards in pricey Bkk or in the outer regions.....U should be more specific with ur living standards???

It's been 2 years since foreign tourists could enter the top travel spot in Asia... Dont expect the process to be smooth when vast majority had been entering on visa waivers before travel ban.... This is expected so u just need to more patient and proactive.
