I think you are the Pattaya type but it gets boring after 2 weeks. You probably won't last in Bangkok as it's busy and more expensive. Your budget is doable but that is not your biggest issue. Your biggest issue is that you have too much time on your hand. What are you going to do all day?

bro, 700 a month is nothing. I pay 1700 and I am way more handsome than you and yet I have to wine and dine them like crazy to get laid. But I am always after the hot office girls. Sometimes, it's cheaper for me just to get a bar girl and take them home. So to be honest with you, it's cheaper to pay and make sure they leave the next morning.

she's at retirement age, I believe the interest on her money in a government bond at 4% would pay for her rent here. If you don't like dealing with landlord then you would definitely not like to deal with any problems with the condo that you own. The Thais would eat you alive with the cost.

I don't want to be rude but please do not buy a condo when you are 77. It is cheaper to rent and you don't want any emergency money to be tied up in a condo. Your condo will lose value here, it is not like America.

You are obviously smarter than me buying and selling houses here without owning the land. I don't even want to deal with that headache. As for the Thais selling to the foreigners, there is some technicality of a building being 51% own by Thais. As for buying in America now, I wouldn't do it. I was lucky enough to buy in 2011. As for the mother of all recession, I am not sure about it. We'll see how it plays out. Right now, I am sitting on my cash and just rent.

I'm talking about a condo. It is not a discount, it is 30% less than a foreigner rate. I looked at the prices for Thais and foreigners and it was a 30% price difference for all new developers. As for buying in America, it is very expensive. I know the news, but I would choose to buy in America than Thailand any day of the week.

I have a house in Los Angeles that generates enough rental income for me to pay my rent here. If I buy, I would do it in my home country as it is protected by the laws that would benefit me. Buying here doesn't make sense as a Thai person would get the same product 30% less. The Chinese also likes to launder their money in Thailand and they don't really care if the unit is rent or not. So to answer your question, I can afford to buy here. I'm just lucky to buy in America where my ROI is better than Thailand.
