TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer motorcycle plates from Pattaya to Bangkok, you typically don't have to change the plates when moving provinces. It’s recommended to leave the registration as is since you can renew your tax and insurance regardless of the province. However, if you want to change your registration, you must submit a form to the Department of Land Transport (DLT), which takes about two days. For renewing your registration and obtaining the compulsory insurance, you can do this at the DLT or designated government inspection centers.

No need to change the plates, you can pay tax and renew insurance everywhere in the country.

Dont need for what you want to Change ?

My truck is registered in Chon Buri, and garaged in Buri Ram. No issues getting the registration renewed in Buriram. Been told it’s common.

Wouldn't your plates, move to bangkok, attached to your bike,

You don't have to change the plates when moving provinces. I moved from Non Khai to Korat and it was fine. Only time to be aware is when you sell, as i did, then the buyer from a neighbouring province wanted to change on ownership. You just sign the papers then they do the leg work.

Why bother, better leaving where they are , yo it can renew and extend every year anyway

My truck was registered in Bangkok but I live in the sticks there is no obligation to change plates when moving provinces

Why? All you need to do is pay your tax and compulsory insurance every year, doesn't matter what province the plates are from, same goes for selling the bikes later, plates are irrelevant.

so they don't need to see my tm30 or residency certificate. Sorry, it is my first year owning a bike.

@Us ****
you need a residence certificate to put your name in the green book.

I already have the green book. I am talking about renewing it. Do I just pay and it's good. Do I get that sticker immediately?

@Us ****
you go to the DLT buy the compulsory insurance and then pay for the tax sticker. You can actually get it done at the government inspection centers as well, the places with the yellowy gear cog sign.

it true. I bought a bike from Ayutya and had to change it to BKK during the buying process. Maybe as an individual you could get away with it

If you think you might ever move back to Pattaya, I would just leave the registration as it is. Very very slim chance you’d have any problems.

yes, I might move back. But my registration is almost do. Do they need a tm30 or certificate of residency? If not, I think it is easier for me just to go to Pattaya and pay for the registration.

not sure what happened to my comment .. was duplicated and then deleted. Anyways, no address cert is required to renew tax and u can do it any province regardless of where the plates are from

Why ?

Do to the DLT, there's a form you submit (forget the number). Takes 2 days.
