Yes, Of course the bus stops at Immigration but the point is you CAN buy a bus ticket online from Mukdahan to Savannakhet, Laos, thus providing onward travel by bus.

Nope you can buy tickets at Mukdahan and Ubon bus terminals. The bus to Savannakhet leaves from Mukdahan bus terminal

If you don't have any form of your own transport then you HAVE to take a bus across the Friendship bridge at Mukdahan. Walking across is forbidden by Thai and Laos Immigration.

Incorrect. There are buses that cross the border. Ubon to Pakse(Laos) via Chong Mek, Mukdahan to Savannakhet(Laos) via the Friendship bridge, Ubon to O'smach(Cambodia) via Chong Chom are 3 that I know of. I'm sure there must be more.

UK uses the evisa system. Apply online. You'll need all the documentation from the school for a Non Imm ED visa.

You won't return the same day with a tourist visa from Vientiane. It's at least an overnight stay, possibly 2.

You wont get a 1 year visa in Thailand, only a 90 days Non Imm O and then apply for the 1 year extention of stay.

For the initial visa the 800k doesnt need to be in the account for 2 months, that's just needed for the 1 year extention of stay.
