Isn’t it a fact that workers , all workers, in Thailand do not get overtime pay? Then that’s a reason for remembering to respect these wonderful neighbors even more.
… and I heard that it is a good idea to get in-person education because of the many nuances of pronouncing, and tonal inflection that one will miss and develop habits difficult to un-learn if self-taught.
Thank you for sharing this information. I had heard about it and mostly it seemed impractical for me and my wife who are already here on a O-A from US. But what you have shared is very very interesting. Could you please give the phone number and any other details about who to contact? Thanks again and all the best!
If you are under 50 years old, I agree. If you are financially comfortable I agree. If you are not very knowledgeable about things in Thailand I agree. If you spend the five years in Thailand under this type of visa, learning about the in’s and our’s, (and trust me you will have difficulties nonetheless which will be learning experiences), then, once it expires you may opt for something better. It seems like a great way to transition into a more permanent life in Thailand for someone who has no contacts there and is not versed in the culture. Good Luck!
If you wait until in Thailand, (I am only repeating what I have heard online), you have no guarantee of success. Better to lock in your status while still in UK.
I read that the tradition is so flexible that, in order to preserve ’face’ if the groom cannot afford it, (and the family is in accord), it is borrowed from friends or relatives, then returned after the ceremony.
I enjoy the YouTube videos posted by Integrity Legal. The head in Thailand is an American who has Thai citizenship and might be able to point you in the right direction if you email him. Good Luck!!!
I have to wonder why you are not asking an expert; if you can find a reliable lawyer you may find a way to avoid all the hassle and expense of in-and-out by changing your visa status, and all for a few measliy bucks to the expert who has had the experience and knowledge to deal with it.
A recent YouTube post included transferwise in the evaluation. It might help. It is: “top 10 apps in Thailand for expands and tourists” pub by The Thaiger (04 24 2021)
