OK. I took my Thai Marriage Certificate to a visa agent. They had it tranlated into english (500 thb) and then they took it to the Thai ministry who stamped the translation (cost, soory I forget). That would be your first step.

I do not understaand your question. My Thai marriage certificate has been translated into English with a stamp from Thai Government. That is accepted and recognised in Australia.

Correct. International Drivers permit is not a licence in itself. All it does is translate your national licence into English. If your national licence isin English that is all that is needed for Thai authorities to issue you a Thai licence.

It all depends on your Immigration office. I assume that you get önder consideration. Usually visit the first year in Chiang Mai.
