Another question please. My mum has dual citizenships but lives permanently in Thailand. Her Thai passport has expired. Can she travel to Australia on Australian passport then return back to Thailand indefinitely on Australian passport? Will there be any negative consequences from the immigration from doing this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around a person with dual citizenship who is inquiring about the implications of traveling on her Australian passport while holding an expired Thai passport. Comments highlight that entering Thailand with the Australian passport means she will be treated as an Australian citizen, requiring an annual immigration check to maintain her stay. Suggested alternatives include renewing her Thai passport for safer travel.

Even of her Thai passport is expired, she can still enter Thailand on it.

Last week my wife went to the Chantaburi passport office to renew her Thai passport and change to her married name. She received the new passport 5 days later.

Incredible service!

Apparently the turnaround time for Thai passport in Thailand is up to 6 months according to another Thai family that's currently going through the process. Don't know if anyone can confirm if this is true. She needs to travel before then.

never herd taking anywhere near that long. Quite easy for Thai’s as previously their passports only lasted 5 years max and quite efficient at renewals but now can be up to 10 years I think.

When was this? This family told me they applied in Feb.

If she enters Thailand on an Australian passport, she will be considered Australian and not Thai for the duration of her entry. She will get stamped in for a year I believe, and she'll have to go to immigration every year and get a new 1 year extension for being Thai.
