What are the repercussions of overstaying a visa in Thailand, and why do some people complain about the penalties?

One month and 10 days overstay. You obviously didnt give a damn about your visa and length of stay it allowed. Your reaping what you sewed, its not immigrations fault or it being a Buddhist country. You are the one to blame no one else.

I've never used a travel agent book it all yourself its straight forward to do. There is no restriction flying to Bangkok.

No. Stopped when covid started and last year it was decided to close the service.

Should take all the photo copied pages with you having have them copied elsewhere, likewise fill the application in at home before going. I think some immigration people get a bit hacked off waiting for farang to fill out forms and get photo copies there, holding other people up.
