Just don't do it. It doesn't look good to have that stamped in your passport especially if you plan on traveling to other countries. It may not seem like a big deal but it could give you more hassle when traveling and questioned about it everywhere you go.
i only got questioned when I extended the 30 day visa exempt, left, came back on another 30 day visa exempt. But since then I've gotten tourist visas, but when I left and came back on a visa exempt after that, they just asked me why I dont have a tourist visa and I say I am traveling out again in 2 weeks
For what it's worth... I never get a Tourist Visa when I fly into Thailand if I don't plan on staying more than 30 days... and I've never had a problem with that explaining because I am traveling in a week or two. Only when I stay longer than 30 days is when I opt for the Tourist Visa. They seem to only get annoyed when people are extending the 30 day visa exempt and staying for 60 days, leaving, coming back on another Visa exempt and thats when they push for the tourist visa. So if your staying less than 30 days then you shouldn't have a problem
You can come back to Bangkok on a Visa exempt stamp, and apply for a new passport and when you go back to Vientiane to apply again you'll get a visa with no problems.
Did you go to Penang for your 3 Tourist Visas back to back? Once you get the red stamp in your passport, I always thought that is a notice for all Thai Embassys. Not just for the one you went to. So once you have the red stamp, in order to be approved for a new tourist visa you need to apply for a new passport. But my concern is why did Penang say you have too many tourist visas with only 3? Did you go there 3 times in a row? or are your other 2 visas from other countries?
They're not turning away people from western countries who have multiple tourist visas, who can show proof of funds, they're turning away the criminals and people who overstay their visas, they're profiling south african people.
That's true. But I don't fall into the category for a Non B visa based on retirement or marriage or working. So I'm limited to using Tourist Visas and the only other option is the Thai Elite visa but that's $15,000 for 5 years... and I simply can't afford that.... I'm living off my life savings, so that limits me. Even if I were to get married, I don't have 800,000 baht to get a year extension of stay, so that's why I'm stuck with Tourist Visas.
