Does any one know the official limit is to how many visa exemptions you can get in a year? Entry by plane and let's say leave Thailand before 30 days and return 1 month later.

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is no official limit on the number of visa exemptions one can apply for by air in a year, though anecdotal evidence suggests that around 4 to 6 back-to-back entries may raise questions from immigration officers. While entries by land are limited to two per calendar year, travelers should be cautious, as frequent exemptions could lead to scrutiny and requests for a more permanent visa.

Keep using 30 days until they stop you. Otherwise no limit. It is more of a problem if you do it back to back without any breaks in the middle. Hence why Oil and Gas workers get away with it on a 28 and 28 or similar.

For what it's worth... I never get a Tourist Visa when I fly into Thailand if I don't plan on staying more than 30 days... and I've never had a problem with that explaining because I am traveling in a week or two. Only when I stay longer than 30 days is when I opt for the Tourist Visa. They seem to only get annoyed when people are extending the 30 day visa exempt and staying for 60 days, leaving, coming back on another Visa exempt and thats when they push for the tourist visa. So if your staying less than 30 days then you shouldn't have a problem

i only got questioned when I extended the 30 day visa exempt, left, came back on another 30 day visa exempt. But since then I've gotten tourist visas, but when I left and came back on a visa exempt after that, they just asked me why I dont have a tourist visa and I say I am traveling out again in 2 weeks

have you ever been questioned by immigrations when stamping in because you have too many visa exempt entries?

Entering on visa exempt entries by air is a total crap shoot on when (or even IF) you'll be questioned by the immigration officers. I know people who work rotation work (a month on a month off) who have been coming here for years 30 days at a time and they skate thru and I know other people who have the same job and same rotational work schedule who got taken aside and told get a real visa.

I'd say follow the general rule that
@Dan***
said and you should be okay.

There is NO official limit to 30 day visa exempt entries by air, and there is a limit of two 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year.

There's no official limit per year flying in visa exempt but it seems the more you do the more chance of being questioned.
