yeah I was the same, I stressed about the handwriting and whether immigration on arrival would question it - but I guess it’s still common enough for them not to be worried.

I use Hobart in Tasmania, it’s an older guy who processes it on the spot, at his home - you get you passport back in about 15 minutes after applying with the visa 🙂

@Krizel ******
he doesn’t have to reapply every 3 months...he can apply for a yearly extension if the organisation gets an approval letter from the head of the relevant government department - to give to immigration.

so we should just apply for 1 year extension and see what happens...I’m doing the process for volunteers in BKK but very little info on it

The Embassy may still give him a visa, as they may not have all the details of blacklisted people...but for sure on his arrival the Immigration Officer will know, and he will likely be refused entry. Even though someone may be given a visa, the final decision on entry is made by the Immigration Officer on arrival. A visa does not guarantee entry.

Maurice Behan but if you have any income within Australia such as super pension etc...then as Non-resident you are subject to 30% tax with no tax free threshold.

So unless all your income comes from sources outside Australia you will be worse off if you claim non-resident status in Australia, so it really depends where your income is derived.
