As a non-resident doesn’t he have to pay 30% tax, but as a resident he gets the Tax Free Threshold - so why would he want to say he’s non-resident?

If you have a look at the Thai embassy website in Canberra, it has the details of the Hobart consular website and contact details...basically its a home of a Thai national who helps out the embassy... I don’t know if he will grant a visa without having met the requirements of income... he’s just easy going and very quick, as in issues a visa in 10 minutes while you wait...

If you go to the Tassie (Hobart) consular he’s not strict at all...and gives you the visa 10 minutes after you arrive

From what I’ve heard it can be a problem...it’s best you get a report from your local police station to say you lost it...and take the report to immigration with you...I’ve heard they want the police report and with that you have no more problems

As I understand it must be formal degree course to apply within Thailand for ED

I’ve seen details of others saying they converted their SET to ED inside Thailand, when studying at university.

Once she has the correct approval from MOE through her selected school, she MUST apply for the actual ED Visa outside Thailand, it’s not possible to apply inside Thailand - unless she is studying at University I think (Tod will know)

Not correct - I got my METV in Canberra last year and I'm not employed. The form (from Thai Embassy Canberra does not ask for employment verification for METV)
