Yes, places open then they just sit and wait. I heard from a Thai the government promotes everyone have a business. Many of the roadside businesses are lent the property for free to promote business growth. They still have to build out and pay utilities, etc.
I’m a retired businessman so I know who and where you spend your money promotes the growth in that direction.
Best advice I got was from a Thai Driving school. If you have any kind of documented address or live with a friend or girlfriend or boyfriend, take someone thai with you to get residency certificate. My Thai person did all the talking and it went right through.
Most of the other Falang with their girlfriends did not seem to say much either. I’m coming up with lists of stuff to take and my girlfriend says, “We don’t need any of that”. I brought it anyway and she was right.
I submitted the monthly income per month document while still in the states before being v issued the 90 day O-Visa. The original application asked for proof not where it was located or what denomination. They never asked anything else just issued a visa.
I applied for a retirement visa and got a Non-O 90 day but it doesn’t say retirement on it.
I almost 60 days into my 90 day stay. Over the last week I’ve been rejected for a bank account at 6 offices of 4 different banks in Thammarat and Pak Phanang.
Someone offered agent services for 5,000 baht but I thought I could do this myself.
Funny I was out to lunch today with some Thais and one of the guys left lunch to go home to the toilet since this eating establishment only had squat pots.
