I submitted an evisa non immigrant O that I thought was good for 6 months but it was approved for only 60 days. Can this be extended? It cost 80 usd. I'm not sure if there was any advantage over the 60 day visa free that can be extended 30 days for a 90 day stay. Did I waste 80 dollars?

If I understand your issue correctly, you have 90 days to enter Thailand with your non-o e-visa given to you by your Thai Embassy. Upon entering Thailand, you will be stamped in for 90 days. You apply for an extension, yearly, within the last 30 days of your stamped in visa date but contact your local immigration for their requirements.

I think you mixed up a few things.

There is no 6 months Non O. It is 90 days.

The 2 months you mention is probably the validity of the visa. Meaning you must enter untill that day and then get stamped for 90 days. If you have a Non O visa and you stamped in for 60 days then probably the IO made a mistake. It happens. Return to the immigratiin to correct it

It sounds like you applied for a multi-entry tourist visa, METV, not a non-O visa. The METV is good for 6 months from the time it is issued, and you get a 60 day entry stamp every time you enter Thailand during those 6 months, and can extend each time for 30 more days. None of the non-O visas do you get a regular 6 months entry stamp with.

No, that is the period when the Visa must be used not the duration of the stamp that you get on entry. Both a Non-O (90 days on entry) and a Tourist Visa (60 days on entry) are valid for use for 90 days from the date of issue.

If you applied for a Non-O it gives you 90 days on entry not 60. Check your Visa to confirm.

Your challenge will be to comply with all the Non-O requirements to get a 12 months extension. A Non-O is usually approved for 90 days.

What I have found is you have to play the cards your dealt. The entire process, to me, appears to be rather subjective.

VISA”s to me are “Like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get”.

Purpose of a non-o is to them get a 1yr extension based on 1 of several reasons. Is not intended for tourist travel.

Non immigrant O based on usually retirement or marriage is good for 90 days.

Yes you can get a 30 day extension on a 60 day tr visa
