Bangkok requires the lease, plus the last three months rent receipts. I thought this was standard for retirement extension?
Andy ************
@Helen *******
Wrong. You're only allowed one extension per entry stamp, so you have to leave at the end of the extension

With retirees switching to DTV, there's no more bribes required for immigration officers to ignore the absence of the 800k. In fact, for regular travellers such as myself, no need to visit immigration ever again! It's a dream visa. I know two retirees already have made the switch, and at least another six waiting in the wings

The agents will be packing shit now! The Golden Era is over for them! 😂

You're probably the only one in Thailand! 😂😂😂

@Tim ********
That's fine. Thankfully Australia had a forward thinking treasurer back in the days when the DTA was formulated and he went out of his way to ensure pensions were protected!

You realise around 50% of retirees in Thailand already pay bribes to immigration officers? That's pretty illegal, but no-one cares. Prostitution and vaping is also illegal in Thailand. No-one cares. There's no way of tracing cash so bring on the investigators! I'll have the coffee and donuts waiting for them! 😂

@John *********
Yeah, they're going to walk past the billionaires and audit a pensioner! That's ok. In my case I'll produce my old bank statements with a flourish, they will smile, nod their heads and be on their way

Cash is not traceable. It's worked for decades. If someone is silly enough to declare it, I guess that's their issue! 😂

I've never had to do that previously so very unlikely it's going to happen. Thai Revenue is not targetting pensioners, it's targetting wealthy Thai people hiding money overseas. Unlikely they will create extra mountains of paperwork which will bring in virtually zero income. We'll see what happens, but I'm confident the whole thing is a fear campaign being fuelled by "tax advisors" who have joined the visa agent scams operating in Thailand. This is just one example of their shady advertising. I certainly won't be completing any tax returns until I'm requested to do so
