Many people misunderstood defamation law. I think it came from a case that a foreigner commented a bad review about a hotel in Thailand, and the hotel sued her or him of this defamation law. But in real cases, many of bad reviews are made also by bad customers. They faked the real situation and too oneside for themselves. and have big intention to mock them or business. For that business, such fake or manipulated negative reviews make their business hard. So in this case, defamation law works only. If there is serious damage on the business without good reason by reviewers. Defamation law is made for reducing stupid people to write everywhere by intention to harm someone else for no good reason. And they sometimes used this review system to threaten business owners to make money from them for not writing the bad reviews etc.. Unfortunately we have so many stupid people enough to do this everywhere and every day. I am not for defamation law, because it hurts freedom of speech or expression. But there are too many bad people to abuse this if there is no defamation law.. Sadly it is.
If you do not trust Thai people in Thailand, there is no reason to live in Thailand. You can not avoid Thais in Thailand. so how miserable is your life in Thailand then? I know this feeling. Thailand is thai country, so you better move away from Thailand just for your better life and mental health.
I knew this and thought of this long time ago. Nowadays, maybe since years? I feel that my money is not my money any more. To be honest, this is not only in Thailand to happen but also everywhere. People who have enough savings to retire would live in fear of their banks to freeze their accounts. You buy big shopping in a shopping mall or have a big dinner in a restaurant or in a bar etc, and suddenly your card does not work nor your bank account all stop. So how can you pay for that?? Well, you always must carry considerable cash or other methods to pay for that. Otherwise, you will get a big trouble. In Thailand of course. maybe thai people will beat you up or detain you until you pay. still cash is working well in most of places. But when the cashless payment comes into reality when the cash is not accepted in many places? You must totally depend on banks. Banks have your life. They can do to you whatever they want on the hostage of your money. For such cases, you probably need more banks accounts as possible to reduce your life risks. 2 is better than only one. so the more, the better. But what about the fees of the banks? All banks take fees from you. Your expense will increase too. There will be so many troubles and life harder due to the banks or the government. your money is no more your money. The banks and government make your life harder so seem to want you to give up and keep your money forever. Yes I have overstated. But, this happened and happens and will happen soon.. I have feeling like this since long time.
A situation like this is what I most worry about, when I encounter Thai officers or bankers. I also had similar situations like this before in other country. Maybe they can ask for the death certificate to unfreeze the account.
The optimal way to do this would be, my opinion only, through wise to Thai bank account. open a thai bank account and send money through wise. Wise is the most competitive exchange rate to offer on the market. The risk would be as well, opening a thai bank is not easy at all. and even you have one, thai bank can freeze your account at any time, no one knows.. also, wise itself can make a problem too.. delay or freeze.. No one knows too. The safest way is bank to bank, transfer your money from your bank to Thai bank SWIFT code or Foreign currency transfer that banks make. but usually the most expensive way.
the funny part here is, the banks suspect your account as mule account or such accounts that related to illegal business etc.. and you must prove you are innocent or nothing to do with that. It is like, police arrest you first because police suspect you. And you must prove that you are innocent.
Believe what you want to believe. That is fine and fully your choice. But only one thing for sure is, believing so much does not always match the reality. Well, visa agent is a waste of money for you, I agreed. But not for everyone.
