Hi, just wondering if anyone has found an efficient method of moving money from Canada to Thailand?

I've just been using ATMs, but the fees are high, and also found bank transfers to be just as costly

use the "bank-to-bank" method offered by services like WISE, Western Union, Remittly or Revolut. Be careful: Do not use methods by credit csrds or cash payouts. ONLY use "home bank account-to-Thai bank account, in most cases by using the service provider's bank account as an intermittent. These is the less costly method and better than a direct SWIFT transfer from your home bank account to your Thai bank account

Ttb one account allows the use of all atm without withdrawal fees if you can get one of those you pay 500baht per year for the card though.

I don't know about Canada but I know from Australia to Thailand the best way cause I don't have a Thai bank account is to use Western Union cash pick up but I have to transfer $5001 or more to get almost the full market rate. If I transfer $5000 or less the rate goes down a lot. So if I transfer $5001 or more the only fee is $7 and I get almost the same rate that wise pays for a bank to bank transfer, slightly lower

Transfer it to yourself via Western Union … easy, secure, low/ no fees, and excellent rates.

I do this every time I’m in Thailand

The optimal way to do this would be, my opinion only, through wise to Thai bank account. open a thai bank account and send money through wise. Wise is the most competitive exchange rate to offer on the market. The risk would be as well, opening a thai bank is not easy at all. and even you have one, thai bank can freeze your account at any time, no one knows.. also, wise itself can make a problem too.. delay or freeze.. No one knows too. The safest way is bank to bank, transfer your money from your bank to Thai bank SWIFT code or Foreign currency transfer that banks make. but usually the most expensive way.

can you just load money onto your Wise card and change it to baht and use the card like you would your cards back home?
Ron **********
Rio Calcagno. I load up the card with AUD in Australia and use it in transactions here in Thailand anywhere that accepts Mastercard, which is everywhere. It automatically pays the trader here in Thai baht at a reasonable exchange rate. And yes,use the card like any other one back in Oz.

Send through Wise to a Thai friend and get the cash from them
