I am in the same situation. I am married to a Thai national and for 15 years have obtained a Non-immigrant O visa 1year with multiple entry from the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. I came back to the US last March to take care of some business and got stuck here due to Covid-19. It has now been 16 months since I have seen my wife and son and am looking toward returning to Thailand this October if they open up the country. I would also rather not tie up 400,000 baht in a Thai bank.

, unfortunately that is how all of Thailand is. Everything is uncertain all of the time. Get used to it.

Anytime you compare what a tourist pays for anything, it is going to be much higher than what a Thai pays. Until there is some kind of control with regard to costs for tourists, price gouging will continue to exist. When I first came to Thailand over 15 years ago I chose this country to retire in due to its low cost of living. Now things have changed. Tourists pay more for everything at a highly inflated price. Costs for quarantine and mandatory health insurance chew into the cost of living by quite a bit which makes Thailand a lot more expensive than it used to be to live in. When will this price gouging stop? The answer is never. I came back to the US last March and have been stuck here since then due to Covid-19. I am now having to decide whether to go back where I have invested all of my retirement money for three houses, property, three vehicles, several motorbikes and everything that comes with it. To compound things, I have a Thai wife and eleven year old son. I don't think anyone could foresee all of these increases in the cost of living coming. I know I didn't. It will be curious to see how everything winds up five years from now and where I will be living.

Ben Miller, 8,259 miles from BKK to LAX. The Boeing 777-200LR is the world's longest range airliner with a range of 17,395km (9,395 miles). Too long now?

I used to fly direct from LAX to BKK, those flights were discontinued, so it is not too far.

Thailand excels in Catch 22s.

I have put everything in my Thai wife's name in Thailand including three houses, three cars and the motorbikes. Only my wife's and Thai son's names appear in the house books. It takes a lot of trust on my part, but I would want all to go to my Thai wife and son once I am gone. No real estate in the US, but I do have ten vehicles who's titles are signed by me and are divided evenly between my other two boys from a previous marriage in the US. Hopefully I have covered my bases in both countries.

They just keep adding requirements. How can anyone keep up when they can't?

, I have all but given up trying to keep pace with all the current requirements immigration now requires to enter Thailand. I have a Thai wife and eleven year old son who are both in Thailand and I am currently in the US. I have been going back and forth for the past 15 years and never have I seen so many changes and hoops that exist today. It seems that immigration has taken this opportunity to have everyone hopping around like rabbits. I applaud you for keeping up with it all and helping those trying to enter the country. I will be trying to put it all together for an entry attempt in October and may need your expertise.
