I am coming back from the US and tried to get a Non-immigrant O visa in Saigon, but they wanted more paperwork that I didn't have. I will now fly in and receive a 30 day stamp. My question is can I get a longer extension for visiting family other than another 30 days extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is arriving in Thailand with a 30-day stamp after facing issues obtaining a Non-immigrant O visa in Saigon. There are responses suggesting that while it is common to get an additional 30-day extension, the option for a longer visit for family may not be readily available. However, there is a potential pathway to apply for a Non-O visa while in Thailand.

Lee Wells, I am not trying to show money which is why I wanted to try at Saigon. Next it will be a drive to Muckdahan.

So the visiting family extension is not an option.

You can get the regular 30 day extension and then after that you can apply for a visit Thai family extension for 60 days.

Stuart Cumming, thank you for the information. Do I need to show money at any point?

@Richard ******
not for either of those extensions. Except for the 1,900 baht fee.

Stuart Cumming, that was what I was thinking, thanks.

Everyone applies and gets approval for an additional 30, for the most part, to add to your original 45 visa exempt for a US person who comes into Thailand. (The new 45 days from October 1st onwards for six months)
