Hey Everyone!

Iโ€™m hoping to return to Thailand sometime at the end of October to see my spouse and stay for 6 months. Iโ€™m double vaccinated, healthy and we have been married for 5+ years. Iโ€™m Canadian.

1)It appears I have to fly into the Phuket sandbox. All the links for information I have clicked are all in Thai. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Some easy step by step instructions would be useful.

2) It appears that all visa applications now go through on online evisa service. I can find a non immigrant โ€œOโ€ visa for spouse, but itโ€™s only valid for 90 days. Is there still a multiple entry option for this? In the past I would get a multi entry and visit a local county with my spouse and then return for another 90 days to get my six months stay.

Any wisdom, USEFUL information and tips are appreciated.

Thanks ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is a Canadian national seeking to return to Thailand to stay with their spouse for six months starting from the end of October. They inquire about the process of entering via the Phuket Sandbox and applying for a NON-O visa for spouses. They note the difficulty in finding clear English instructions online and seek advice on obtaining a longer visa stay since the current visa options seem limited to 90 days without a multiple entry. Community members respond with various insights, indicating that multiple entry visas are currently unavailable, advise applying for the 90-day NON-O visa with the option to extend it, and offer general tips on navigating the visa process.

Apply for your O visa now and it will allow you 3 months grace to to enter Thailand. Once your details are in the system you will get a COE much quicker usually 2 days saves a lot of time and stress.

If you are over 50 just apply for a one year OA visa in your home country?

Where you have to deposit 400k or is this a different option?

The UK stopped selling multi entry Non Imm O visas a few years ago. The only countries I know that still sell them are Laos, Vietnam and South Korea. You can get a 60 day extention to the single entry giving you 150 days in the country.

Go for the 90 day non o (marriage) visa. Once in Thailand you can visit immigration and get the 60 day visit family extension. That gets you 5 months.

I would wait and see. Rules changing all of the time.

There are no multiple entry visas currently available because all land borders are closed.

I am in the same situation. I am married to a Thai national and for 15 years have obtained a Non-immigrant O visa 1year with multiple entry from the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. I came back to the US last March to take care of some business and got stuck here due to Covid-19. It has now been 16 months since I have seen my wife and son and am looking toward returning to Thailand this October if they open up the country. I would also rather not tie up 400,000 baht in a Thai bank.

you donโ€™t have to tie up the money. You need it 2 months prior to the application. Most immigration offices will want you to keep the 400k balance during the one month consideration period, but after that you can spend it at will. Obviously it needs to be back up to 400k two months before the next application.

Yeah.... Iโ€™m trying to avoid locking up my hard earned money into an account that will likely have super inflation soon. But thanks... it is a possible option.

if your spouse is Thai, you can extend your Non O within Thailand for one year with THB 400,000 in a Thai bank
