you are wrong as well πŸ˜„πŸ˜… The correct wording would be like: "You can apply for a DTV through the E-Visa online system of a Thai embassy or Thai consulate in any country outside of Thailand" . . . . . . . you said, "apply through consulate of any country" and that's oh so wrong, because "consulates of any country" could be consulates of any country - and not necessarily be Thai consulates πŸ˜‚

sounds like what somebody who wants to give correct advice do, as a first step. More so if the OP doesn't give enuff details by himself. Knowing the passport country or the OP often solves half of the riddle

checking his profile, before giving advice, isn't that difficult

that's because the DTV has a "multi re-entry permit" included. If anyone turns up at this border without avisa for Thailand and wants to do q border bounce and enter Thailand visa-exempt, he might get asked for the 2-nights stay (or a tea-money price that will get him through on the same day)

for the application to the Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa - AND for the 1-year Retirement Extension, you have the choice of showing either a minimum of 800,000 THB in your bank account, or a proof of a monthly income of a minimum of 65,000 THB. For the application to the E-VISA in your home country, the money can be in your home bank account. For the application to the 1-year Extension, the money needs to be in your Thai bank account

you have two options to get a 90-days Non-Imm-ED (education) visa:

*** apply for it in your home country before you fly to Thailand. You will need documentation from the school or university you plan to attend

*** apply for it on Immigration inside Thailand. This process is called β€œchange of visa type” from a 60-days visa-exempt entry or from a 60-days Tourist Visa, to a 90-days Non-Imm-ED Visa. Also done with documentation from the school or the university

Under both options, the airline CAN ask you for a proof of onward travel out of Thailand within the period you will get stamped in, if you show them a one-way ticket at the Check-In counter

@shanm******
you can use a cheap one-way flight ticket like Air Asia from Hat Yai to Kuala Lumpur for 36 US Dollar for proof of onward travel - to throw away

you don't "extend my visa". A visa cannot get extended. The visa you used to achieve the "extended stay permit" has become invalid already. Immigration just extends a stay permit. The stamp you receive in your passport clearly states that you got a stay permit and not a visa. A 1-year stay permit based on reason "Retirement" . . . and for this stay permit, you can buy a "re-entry permit". This re-entry permit has a validity for use until the expiry date of your extended stay permit

single re-entry is 1000.- THB, a multi re-entry is 3800.- THB. At the Airport if you haven't any prepared forms and pictures, you will need to add 200.- THB to these fees. Why I take a notice? I got my own visa advice group, I just can't allow myself to hand out incorrect information 😊
