Important question to ask I want to apply for a 3-month Visa to come to Thailand, do I need to have a return ticket, I'm going to apply for the education visa when I come to Thailand and I don't want to have a return ticket. Will I get rejected if I apply for the 3-month Visa without a return ticket.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a 3-month visa to Thailand typically requires proof of onward travel, such as a return ticket. While some travelers have reported that officials did not ask for this documentation, it is officially a requirement and varies based on the type of visa and the discretion of the immigration officer. It is suggested to either have a return ticket or a cheap onward ticket ready to avoid potential problems during the visa application process.

you have two options to get a 90-days Non-Imm-ED (education) visa:

*** apply for it in your home country before you fly to Thailand. You will need documentation from the school or university you plan to attend

*** apply for it on Immigration inside Thailand. This process is called “change of visa type” from a 60-days visa-exempt entry or from a 60-days Tourist Visa, to a 90-days Non-Imm-ED Visa. Also done with documentation from the school or the university

Under both options, the airline CAN ask you for a proof of onward travel out of Thailand within the period you will get stamped in, if you show them a one-way ticket at the Check-In counter

WHAT 3 month visa? There are tons of 3-month visas.

If you are traveling to Thailand as a tourist, then one of the requirements is to have proof of a ticket out of Thailand within the number of days you will receive upon arrival. For most people that's 60 days. Whether you are asked for it or not is a different matter, but it is a requirement. You can purchase a bus or train ticket out of Thailand for a few dollars if your airline will accept that.

so I don't necessarily need to have a ticket to come back home I can just get a ticket for a different country which will probably cost me like a hundred bucks? I can book ticket for like Vietnam or anywhere else that's not Thailand thank you.

you can use a cheap one-way flight ticket like Air Asia from Hat Yai to Kuala Lumpur for 36 US Dollar for proof of onward travel - to throw away

there's no requirement for any visa in Thailand that requires a return ticket. Only any onward ticket out of Thailand. They don't care where you go
