Something else to be aware of. Even though the visa has a 6 month validity period it doesn't automatically mean she can stay 6 months. For example. If you put in your application you want her to visit for 4 weeks, she should only stay 4 weeks within the 6 month validity period. If you change your mind for a longer stay after she's arrived I would advise you to inform UKBA. There is no guarantee a longer stay would be granted.
I am retired and have lived here approaching 10 years. I still love it BUT....there is a sense that Thais believe themselves to be a superior race. As an example. I was invited by a friend to a land deal, 40million baht. I sat silent throughout then after the deal was struck, the purchaser said in Thai " why are farangs so stupid"? I then spoke in Thai and asked him why he thought farangs were stupid? I continued and added there are clever people and stupid people in every country. His jaw dropped and he responded in English " you speak Thai" to which I replied I understand enough......
I love here too BUT eyes wide open. Learn to say NO as shamelessly as the indigenous ask to borrow rich man's money. 1 lady asked can Borrow xxx baht. I asked....can i borrow your pussy.....she fd off.
Can i borrow 10,000 baht? When will you give it back? Every month 500 baht I promise. They surpass Nigerian scammers by a mile! Borrow? You must be joking! Before I was a soft touch.....now I say....have you got gold? Land? Car? Motorbike? No? Not have? Then f off.
