you’re lucky then. It wasn’t an issue getting out. It was an issue leaving & boarding flight for Vietnam. I’ve heard people report this “scam” and I personally know a Vietnamese lady who lives in the US get picked out like this at the airport. She raised hell and pitched a fit so they let her go😅. I was of the mind to say “forget it! I don’t need to go” but realised the air ticket was non refundable nor would our hotel accommodation😨. So gave them $350 (only want cash) and begrudgingly went on.
if UK can fly into Vietnam with no visa, you’re LUCKY. From US, we needed e-visa and that was a mess and seems like they have a routine “ problem” they find with it at departure flight but “can fix” for $350 USD. Alternative is re-apply and wait the 3-5 days it took for visa approval. 😡
Brandon is absolutely correct. I personally know a farang married to a Thai lady and own a business. He’s been warned about “even sweeping the floor” and looks over his shoulder often for fear of being reported & fined.
DMK seems hardline. As far as I can read from your post, you left and came back in after a 20 day stay out of country on a routine 60 day visa exemption. What did she see wrong with that? Or was her problem that you couldn’t produce “onward travel”?
I do have a Supplemental Advantage Plan. I’ll re-read the stipulations in order to get the overseas/travel medical covered. When I did review it, there was something in it that wouldn’t work for me. It’s Anthem Blue Cross.
