METV is great, you’ll just apply every year, do one border bounce and two local extension to get six months in total.

No need to go in person. Just create a user and register online.

It’s still formally required and can be done online.

Return flight is never required. An onward ticket is formally required also for a tourist visa, but if the embassy/consulate approved a SETV without an onward ticket it’s rarely checked at the immigration, but you could risk your airline will ask for it. But if you already have an onward ticket this should be ok.

It’s normally sufficient to show proof of booking for the first nights when you apply for a SETV. This is a bit embassy dependent and some embassies are more strict.

Your wife can register your TM.30 online when you later stay with her.

If you plan to come and go for six months over a two years period and not are comfortable with leaving 800K baht x 2 in a thai bank account for a regular Non O visa and extension of stay in Thailand, you could apply for a one year Non O-A visa. This gives you possibility for to stay for up to two years in Thailand and you apply at the embassy at home with your own bank statement.

The main requirements are the same as the regular Non O visa; -passed 50 years and a monthly income equal to 65K baht or funds equal to 800K baht, but there’s also a mandatory health insurance and health certificate requirement and a regular police check up.

The pro is that you don’t need to transfer any income or funds to a thai bank account. The con is the additional requirements.

The first year the Non O-A has multiple entries, for the second year you’ll need to buy a multiple re-entries permit.

This is quite common now and you need to go to one of the tourist spots and get an agent to help you. I know one in Pattaya who charges 3500 baht for this service but you’ll need at least 15 days left on your stamp and a TM.30 from a hotel.

Agree, ED visa could still be an option if his previous excessive history don’t case any problems.

Ok I understand, then I guess only Thai Privilege Visa might be his option for a period of time now if he’s able to meet the requirements/costs.

And some hotels don’t give you a screenshot or receipt of your TM.30 registration, just a written letter confirming your stay with them. I’ve just filled out a TM.30 at the immigration myself and attached the letter from the hotel.
