The bank will absolutely need it. I would not give it to the agent though. I would go into the bank with them and give it directly to the bank.
This requirement is only for U.S citizens, so anyone from elsewhere advising you on what was required does not know. The U.S. is one of very few countries that taxes its citizens on income received outside its country. Additionally...the Patriot Act added requirements.
you don’t need to be in Thailand to take an online class. As such, online classes don’t qualify for visas. Decide where you want your stay, then folks can recommend schools. Duke is so good that it has a long wait though. That tells you something.
People are reacting as they are because things are done differently in Thailand. No, most houses don’t have central air. People cool the rooms they’re actually using. They don’t cool empty rooms.
I moved my 800K to Thailand to avoid the drama. However, I guarantee you that if I had left my money in the States, the money I would have earned through investments would have far exceeded the plane ticket you’re talking about. The folks who pay 30K to an agent do so once. After that, it’s ~5K and, again, I’m sure they can do far better with their investments. I would hope folks are not putting those sums of money into savings accounts earning 1% interest (in the States).
