You can only open an account on non o visa. After that if you visit a branch near downtown Bangkok especially the central world area its usually easy. Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank are probably the easiest to open with.

they are Thai we are not 🙂. Don't want to be caught breaking the law as a visitor.

I got my 90 day evisa and was not required to have a return flight. Again this could be the type of visa you are applying for and embassy rules

Sounds like a bad idea if he wants to marry her just to stay longer. But the short answer is yes. Up to 90 days then 1 year with thai bank account that has

there is no 1 year tourist visa. At most you get 60 to 90 days and then you have to border run.

do you want to see my thai wife? My family and know I live in Nonthaburi? I'm a software engineer with the ability to work anywhere I want. I have residents in USA. Currently in the process of staying in Thailand long term this May. So yes my words are from recent experiences and dealing with the Thai Embassy and Banks.

So tell me are you smoking something? Or does your age just make you grumpy and rude?

if you are doing it by yourself; a tourist visa will not work 90% of the time, at not least in Bangkok. The laws have changed last year around June. You now need a Non-O visa or property(condo), to open a bank account.
