I just got mine a few days ago and came into thailand yesterday. The paper i brought with me to immigrations has the type of DTV I applied for on it. I was also told because it's a E-VISA system now they can see my VISA in the system at immigrations. I don't know what their screen said when I check into the country with a DTV VISA but I'm sure they can see it if they want to. If it doesn't already say the type when they run my passport. Your stamp on your passport just says DTV though.
You can apply for a DTV visa yourself while outside of thailand or pay an agent to help you do it while you are inside of thailand. I just got mine but if you do it the way I did which was while I was still inside of thailand you won't like the price.
Anonymous participant I would take a look at a multiple entry retirement visa as well. You just have to renew it every year. The LTR is better if you qualify for it. Because you are working on and off outside of thailand maybe contact an immigrations lawyer. Consultations are cheap and they can really look at your whole situation and give you the best advice on what type of visa you should go with.
