Lo June,

PLEASE CHECK - My student informs me that CMU cancels the visa one month after completion of studies...If you wish to attend the graduation ceremony, you have to apply for a visa to attend at that time. You are already at CMU Nursing, please confirm this and share for others...In any case, try to improve your Thai enough to take the required Thai qualification, otherwise your options become very limited. God luck.

If applying as your dependent (saves having to deposit in her separate account) in Thailand, make sure to get your marriage certificate sorted....

AI Overview

+3

To obtain a Thai dependent visa as the spouse of a retiree, you'll need to provide a valid passport, a copy of the retiree's passport and visa, a copy of the retiree's work permit (if applicable), proof of relationship (marriage certificate), and potentially other documents depending on the specific requirements of the immigration office. The marriage certificate needs to be legalized by your embassy in Thailand before submission.

Detailed Requirements:

Valid Passport: The dependent's passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay.

Photographs: Recent passport-sized photos are required.

Retiree's Documents:

A copy of the retiree's passport (including visa pages and departure card).

A copy of the retiree's valid visa and work permit (if applicable).

Copies of the company documents (if applicable, likely relevant if the retiree has a work permit).

Proof of Relationship:

A legalized marriage certificate (legalized by your embassy in Thailand).

Other Potential Documents:

Depending on the specific immigration office, you may need to provide proof of financial support for the dependent (e.g., bank statements, a sponsorship letter).

You may need to show evidence of your current location in Thailand (e.g., utility bills, rental agreement).

You may also need to show proof of health insurance coverage (with specific coverage amounts, likely over 50,000 USD).

Important Considerations:

Legalization:

The marriage certificate needs to be legalized by your embassy in Thailand.

Work Permit:

If the retiree has a work permit, you'll need to provide copies of the employer's business paperwork as well.

Renewal:

The initial dependent visa is often valid for 90 days, and it can be extended for a longer period, such as a year.

Same-Sex Marriage:

It's important to note that same-sex marriages are now recognized under Thai law (I think, please check if applicable)

Good luck.

If you can live here as a dependent, it will save you having to deposit funds (800k THB) in your own account. Make sure to have your marriage certificate legalized and translated to Thai etc. Check with the Thai Embassy in your home country as to what you will need to do.

Please check... my understanding is that - If you have your marriage certificate, get it certified by the Thai Embassy in your home country. Once that is certified by the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Thailand, only one of you will need to have the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank.
