TLDR : Answer Summary
The user expresses frustration about being told it would take a week to obtain a TM30 for a 30-day visa extension while staying at a hotel in Bangkok. Community members contribute their experiences, noting that online processes are typically quick and suggest that hotels can issue a second TM30 if requested. They emphasize that if properly registered, immigration should already have the necessary information, and the timeframe of a week could indicate that the hotel has not completed the registration.
Just go and get it sorted. If question about your TM 30 just explain the issue. Probably they have you registered on computer, so no fuzz. Worst case scenario is a 2000 Baht fine
normally, if your hotel has registered you per TM30, Immigration can see it on their computer. Then you don't need a receipt of it or a screenshot . . but some Immigrations are pedantic
I’ve never taken a TM30 to do an extension. Is this a new thing? The hotel does it when I’ve checked in so must be visible for then Immigration staff 🤷♂️
in 16 years of travelling to Thailand I’ve never taken one for an extension. God knows why I’ve never been asked then. I assumed when the hotel submits it online the immigration see that so no need 🤷♂️
