I was in Jomtien Immigration about 2018. These tourists didn't have a TM30 and were in line to get one. The Immigration Officer had them get their landlord on the phone. It was a long conversation in Thai. After the phone call the Immigration Officer said it was the landlord's responsibility to file it and pay the fine. The tourists were given the option to pay it if they wanted. I don't know what happened after that.
Nope, you're looking at it correctly. There is no option to stay in Thailand for 6 months without leaving. The maximum you can swindle is 90 days at a time unless you start looking at the year long options. A huge frustration for many.
here's a silly question. Could one apply for a Non-O in home country showing funds and indicate retirement as the reason, then enter Thailand and apply for an extension based on trailing spouse with the correct trailing spouse documentation?
Apply for the O-A visa from the Vancouver Consulate. They processed mine within 24 hours. The list of documents and requirements are on their website. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly. Use Express Post with a return Express Post envelope inside for them to return your passport.
There is a way for you to piggy back on your husband's visa, but I'm not sure exactly what you need to do, and that may only work with an extension of stay obtained in Thailand, not the O-A visa. Someone else will have to answer that
