By the way - the cat rescue in Thailand is quite different than in the US. There are a lot of community cats that people feed and take care of. Walking from our apartment we usually see 10-20 of them that are all well fed and very friendly.
There are nonprofits that help care for them but generally they intervene if one is critically ill or injured, and after treatment the cat or dog will usually be put back. But most people are so kind to the animals that they seem to live higher quality lives than they would in a US type shelter system.
