Hi everyone 👋,

I just joined the group, like many others, with the idea of moving to Thailand and starting a "*new life*." At the time, I looked into all the VISA options—even considered the ELITE one—but here's the problem.

The Elite Bronze doesn't allow you to bring a partner, at least not right now (I think it did before), and there's no guarantee that will change in the future. So I decided to go for the DTV (2). I’ve more or less got a clear idea of the documents they ask for, at least in my case, at the embassy in Madrid (Spain).

But I have one question I haven’t found solid info on, and I’m sure someone here can answer it better: no matter how you enter the country—Elite, DTV, etc.—are there any issues bringing pets?

I have a dog (about ≈30kg) and a cat (≈2kg), and they’re family. They’re part of the package when it comes to moving to Thailand.

Have any of you run into problems? Do they make things difficult in that regard? 🙄

Thanks,

Cheers!

Hi all. Has anyone had any experience bringing a pet into Thailand with the DTV visa? I have a pet transport agency helping me through the process, but I’d love to hear your firsthand experience. Thanks!

Hi everybody

Does anyone know if you are allowed to bring pets over on a DTV visa? If you can are there any restrictions as to how many?

Does the retirement visa OA allow you to bring over your furniture without paying GST? I know the LTR allows you to.

Hi everyone - just joined and need some "expert" guidance.. UK national, late 50's looking to retire to Hua Hin within next few months. Currently have temporary residence is Spain so will be relocating from Spain not UK. A few initial questions:

1. As a UK national, can I just travel to Thailand as a visitor (with no special visa) and then undergo the process for the Retirement visa in Thailand or do I need to come under the Non-Immigrant "O" visa and then undergo the process in Thailand to change it to the Retirement visa?

1. I will be bringing my cat with me so will it be allowed entry if I just travel to Thailand as a visitor (with no special visa) and then undergo the process for the Retirement visa in Thailand or do I need to come under the Non-Immigrant "O" visa and then undergo the process in Thailand to change it to the Retirement visa?

1. If I do need a visa to enter, can I obtain it myself easily, online etc or will it require a visit to the Thai embassy/consulate in Spain, since I have temporary residence there, and not the Uk?

1. Is it possible to open a bank account in Thailand from overseas? Ideally would like to go with Bangkok Bank as they have been recommended.

Thanks
