Starting to see posts about tax returns being requested as an additional document - I’ve been traveling so don’t have a tax return - any advice?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has encountered a requirement for tax returns as part of their visa application but does not have one due to traveling. The community has asked clarifying questions about the requestor's identity and the user's employment situation, suggesting to check with the embassy and consider what documentation can substitute the tax return.

What country are you from? Many allow you to download your tax docs from their government's websites.

I had to provide 'proof of taxes paid 2023'. I was just approved last week.

Many remote workers or digital nomads are not paying tax as they keep moving every few months.

But ask the embassy

If you are a remote worker what's the issue (it's been one of ways to prove employment since the visa began) with providing a tax return to prove you are indeed employed? If you have been travelling and not working then a remote worker approach is probably not for you.

Are they from the US? Remote workers paying tax in EU would have this on their payslips from their company (income tax), someone correct me if I’m wrong, or are they requesting something additional to this? I only have access to 6 months pay slips anyway

Who is requesting tax returns?
