Okay just to clarify for you .

You have an METV with at least 15 days remaining on your entry.(in most areas)

You have deposited 800k in a Thai bank in your name only. Use of an agent may be needed.

**unless you have an income letter from your embassy**

You will convert that to a NON-O 90 DAY visa based on retirement.

Then when your money has seasoned for 60 days you may apply for a 1 yr extension of stay based on retirement.

** go to your local immigration for the requirements in that area**

okay so I believe they increased some of the limits required to carry during this year.

There a list of THAI approved insurers.

In theory most large foreign Insurers should also qualify.

The Thai policies are written to exactly match Thai immigration requirements.

Can you indicate the original visa for what extension of stay is?

My guess is this a 1yr extension of an OA visa that required the health insurance still.

@Mark ****
Phuket allows 45 days for extensions.

@Eric ******
yes that is a good safe plan, for those that have the means to do so.

There is no time left on that stamp to convert to anything in country.

You will have to leave and start again.

If you are not going to have any interaction at immigration it doesn't really matter.

However depending where you are you may need it to get a 30 day extension etc.

But not everywhere, Phuket doesn't require it for a 30 day tourist extension, as an example.

The re-entry permit is only good as long as your current stamp.
