TLDR : Answer Summary
A multi-entry visa allows for multiple entries into Thailand over its validity period. If the visa is a one-year multi-entry, it remains valid for one year or until the visa stamp expires, meaning that you can come and go as often as you like within that timeframe. However, you must comply with 90-day reporting requirements if you stay longer than 90 days per entry. Some users noted that timing your departure and re-entry could effectively provide around 15 months of stay by carefully managing your entries before the visa expiration.

Lots of wrong information. There is no 90 day reporting because you have to leave the Country every 90 days. If you time it correctly you can get 15 months out of the stamp if you leave and return on your last day.

Once the 15 months is up if you are married to a Thai or have a Thai child you can also add the family extension of 60 days.

also wrong. I’ve been here for 15 months. Never left, walk into Jomtien immigration every 90 days. They give me a cool little piece of paper and i walk out. Back in 90.

You can also extend to avoid going every three months. So theoretically you can do it with three extensions and three border bounces

I have never heard of extending. Maybe a different type of multi entry visa? Mine is based on marriage and got outside of Thailand and immigration made it clear I had to leave every 90 days. So now my curiosity has me wondering if the retirement multi entries are different?

yes I am also on the same visa as you, I assume you are unaware that you can stay for almost 17 months on the Non Imm O ME before applying for a new Visa at a Thai Embassy/Consulate, with only 3 border runs and 3 x 60 day extensions

please read this.

You can get roughly 15 months out of it. If you leave and come back to Thailand a few days before the expiry date you will be stamped for 90 days

That doesn't apply if you get the multiple entry 'O' based on retirement I believe. It only applies on a non-immigrant 'O' multiple entry visa obtained in your own country and after obtaining the three month extension, giving you fifteen months, then you have to leave Thailand.

the I heard and I could be wrong, the consulates are only giving double O visa not the multi one like before.

You can still get the multiple entry 'O' visa, but you have to have, in their opinion a good reason for them to grant it. This is a copy & paste from Thai Embassy, London and is not refernce to retirement.

1. Passport or travel document with validity, not less than 6 months, and at least 2 blank pages

2. Your recent photo (selfie is acceptable)

3 Declaration form

4. Financial evidence showing savings of not less than £10,000 for a multiple entry visa, or a monthly state pension of £650. Please show the most recent statement

5. Proof of residency e.g. council tax bills, driving license

6. Travel history in the last 1 year- please upload a page of your passport with a visa stamp, or a blank page if not travelled in the past year

7. Photo of the applicant holding his/her passport

8. Your flight and accommodation (hotel booking for the first few days will be acceptable) details

please ignore Health Insurance on the E-visa system for all Non - Immigrant visa O

IF like me your last "valid" day on that visa is say for example August 31st 2024, then leave Thailand on August 31st, come back on September 1st, then after 90 days, go to your local immigration office and extend it 30 days (tourist) or 60 (non-o).

It ends with the visa or extension end datec

The re-entry permit is only good as long as your current stamp.

If your Visa is a 1 year Multi entry then you can come and go as many times as you want. You will get stamped in and out each time without issue.

You will still need to do 90 day reporting if your stay is longer than 90 days each time. You just base that timeline on the entry Stamp date.

Eh no, he has to leave the country every 90 days. 90 day reports are for non b/o visa extensions lasting a year.

@James ****
I have a 1 year and I don’t have to leave the country. I go to immigration every 90 days and they check me in.
AliJames *****
@Sam *******
you have a 1 year extension, that's different
Sam ********
@James ****
I have no such thing. I am on a Visa, not an extension. Not going to argue with you. I know what I have. I paid for it. I have never applied for any type of extension.

@Sam *******
ahhh, okay I am on a NON-O multi entry stamp based on marriage so it’s impossible for me to get an extension inside the country. I must leave Thailand every 90 days. The OP didn’t go into any details. However I am curious what kind of visa do you have? Did you get it inside Thailand?
