TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about renewing their retirement visa in Thailand and was informed of a new requirement for Covid-related insurance coverage of 3 to 4 million baht, despite having had accepted health insurance for the past two years. Commenters debated the validity of this requirement, suggesting that it might be outdated or an attempt to sell unwarranted insurance. They shared concerns about verifying the insurance company’s reliability and indicated that the requirement for the OA visa has indeed increased in terms of health insurance coverage.

Hi, Gordon, I cannot recommend a specific insurance company, but would like to say: please get insurance through a trustworthy agent because some take the money but do not file the documents.

The requirements have increased for the OA visa from previously being 400k + 40k to a straight 3M baht

he's got an OA and life insurance is part of that visa requirement

OA doesn't require Life Insurance nor specific Covid Insurance. It's medical insurance

@Roberto ********
yes, that's waht i meant, medical, not covid

Can you indicate the original visa for what extension of stay is?

My guess is this a 1yr extension of an OA visa that required the health insurance still.

okay so I believe they increased some of the limits required to carry during this year.

There a list of THAI approved insurers.

In theory most large foreign Insurers should also qualify.

The Thai policies are written to exactly match Thai immigration requirements.
